The red line indicates my actual track. You can see that I avoided the Class D airspace, and, although it looks like I entered the Class C outer ring, I stayed below 1700 feet and so never entered that airspace.

What's interesting about this airspace is... The Class D (dashed blue lines) around Hawkins Airport (HKS) indicates that it's from the surface to 2800 feet (the "28" inside the dashed blue line box). Now, the Jackson International (JAN) airspace has two rings... the outside ring has it's "floor" at 1700 feet and it's ceiling at 4400 feet. So, the only way to fly over the Class D is to be above 2800 feet. But if you do that and you're within the outside ring, then you're in the Class C airspace. What's even more confusing is, if you fly through the Class D airspace at, say, 2000 feet, you are simulatneously in both Class D and Class C airspace. I'm glad this wasn't on the test! :-)
