"Roger's Place" is a composite of several parallel "businesses". Roger's full name is Roger Freeman and he is an ex-commercial airline pilot.

His primary business is called "Vintage Avaition Services" and they restore or build replicas of early aircraft... anything up to WWII. His most notable accomplishments to date are;

1. Building a replica Fokker Dr.I triplane for the USAF Museum.
2. Building a replica Fokker D.VII for the USAF Museum.
3. Building a replica Fokker D.VIII for a private collector which is in the US Army Aviation Museum at Ft. Rucker, Alabama.
4. Building a flying replica of a 1911 (?) Farman biplane for the Hong Kong Historical Society. This airplane replicated the first airplane to fly in Hong Kong, and was flown at the opening ceremonies for their new airport and is currently displayed in the lobby of the main terminal.
5. Restoring to flying condition a 1918 Curtiss JN4D "Jenny" powered by an original OX-5 engine. This aircraft belongs to a private collector.

Roger recently acquired two Bristol F2.B fighters, one of which has an original fuselage. He wants to build one for himself and one for a customer.

The other businesses on the facility is the "Vintage Aviation Historical Foundation" and "The Pioneer Flight Museum". The aerodrome facility has been named "The Old Kingsbury Aerodrome" as it is located in Kingsbury, Texas. Roger's goal is to create an early aviation flying museum. There will be a museum building as well as flying shows on the weekends. The two buildings currently standing on the grounds are the VAS shop and the storage hangar.

The concrete slab seen in a photo shown previously ("Roger's Place"), between the two existing buildings, is the future site of the Pioneer Fight Museum. The structure is a 1918 Army Hangar which originally stood at Dodd Field on the Ft. Sam Houston grounds. The Army donated the structure to the Foundation.

The aerodrome hosts several events each year. New this year is a quarterly presentation. The next one will be held on Saturday, April 6th, 2002. The meeting starts at 5:00 PM and dinner will be available (no charge... though donations are accepted!). The speaker is Mr. Don Chew and his topic will be the design, development, and demise of the rigid airship. As a child Don made a trans-Atlantic crossing in a rigid airship and has always been fascinated by them.
